29 King Street
New York City, NY
Located in the Charlton King Vandam Historic District, 29 King Street was once a Grammer School until 1981 when it was converted into a residential building.
Thirty-five unusual apartments were created throughout the building. Redundant exit stairways became kitchens, bathrooms and sleeping lofts, all with 14-foot ceilings and oversized windows. Adler Window are currently installing more than 100 new Pella Windows. We worked closely with AMR Engineering to select Pella’s Architect Series double hung windows for the fully occupied cooperative. Installation of more than 100 windows is currently in progress, with numerous windows being hoisted into place due to their large size.
29 King Street is located in a landmarked Greenwich Village area and thus all work was approved by New York’s Landmarks Preservation Commission. The condo accumulated historic tax credits for the developer.
